Mi Kari Hot Bowl Nyonya Delights

Lunch for today! White Curry Mee @ Abu Siti Lane

Ever heard of white curry mee? Here it is:

Hot Bowl Nyonya Delights

The White Curry Mee is by far the most “WHITE” in color curry mee I’ve had before. It come with a generous amount of cockle (“ham” in hokkien), tofu puffs (“Tau Pok” in hokkien), cuttlefish as well as the typical blood cake (“Tu Hueh” in hokkien).

Personally this is my first time having white curry mee, and it was indeed delightful experience. Yummy yummy! There is Homemade Chili Paste available at each table, so we are welcome to add in the chili paste to our liking. I like both versions, with and without the Chili paste. :) The chili paste good as it comes with a very nice nyonya aroma to my liking! If you can’t take spicy food, no worries you can still enjoy this delicacy without the chili! yum yum…..

Besides the usual curry mee, you can also opt for extra’s such as Prawn (RM2), Crab sticks(RM1), Fish balls(RM1), Meat balls (RM1)and Filamen Sticks(RM1).

Below is the price of white curry mee without any extras added:

RM3.50 (SMALL) RM4.50 (BIG)

And here is a photo of them for the size comparison:Doesn’t the BIG bowl look a lot bigger than the small one?

Besides white curry mee, this eatery also serve other dishes such as Hor Fun, Chicken rice, Vinegar pork trotter, Deboned Chicken, Fish Head Curry, Dumplings, Loh Bak, Otak-otak, yam cake etc.

To complement our meal, we ordered a plate of deboned chicken to savor.

The Deboned Chicken comes in 3 sizes:

RM5, RM9 and RM16 (Half Chicken)

As we were sharing the chicken, we ordered the medium one which cost us RM9. The portions were just right for 3 person, but since just 2 of us sharing it, we get to enjoy a pretty large amount of the Hainanese slice chicken. :)

The chicken was served cold with sweet soy sauce and topped with some celery leaves and spring onions. While I’m not a fan of cold chicken. Surprisingly it tasted good. The chicken was cooked just right, the meat was tender, smooth and flavorful.

There was a lunch crowd while we were having our meal, all tables inside the restaurant is occupied while some patrons were having their meal right outside the door, not being able to enjoy the air-condition.

How to improve our working environment?

We were having our bi-weekly staff meeting today and boss pop out question to us:

1) How can we improve our working environment?

He was expecting all of us to give suggestion on the topic, but apparently most of us just avoided eye contact, or rather listen than suggest. It was a culture in Malaysia that “we” Malaysians are more of an introvert than an extrovert when it come to expressing ourselves in public or in front of a crowd.

To improve our working environment, our company have been providing us employees MYR 25 budget monthly on having Team Lunch. Besides that, each of us are also entitle MYR 5 per person on Team Tea Break and monthly birthday celebration MYR 100 for the whole team of 28 person.

So let’s get all the numbers together, well yes! a total of MYR 940 is spend on meals to please our team of employees per month, hoping to bond the team and improve the working environment in the long run. Is this actually beneficial to the team?

I was call upon to answer just now, as I yawned. Sigh. Well, and I just gave a quick answer of “No comments” Hem…. to tell the truth I don’t think the Team Lunch/Tea Break/Birthday Celebration is giving much impact of improving the working environment, reason is simply because the team is just gathering together to enjoy the benefit provided, but not actually working together to organize it. In other words not much interaction between the team members. But, nevertheless having these team activities does motivate the team a little bit, as in, we might feel a tiny weeny more appreciated? Well, having it is better than nothing right? Many of us would prefer cash into our pockets though………..

Do you have any bright suggestion that could improve a working environment of group team members? or have you join any very helpful team activities? if yes, please do share it with all of us!

Air Fryer, do you have one at home?

Recently, our house has added a new kitchen gadget due to my trendy and busy mum. Well, yes, Air Fryer! Let me share with you more about this little toy of ours if you aren’t aware of it.

As what it claims:

Airfryer’s patented Rapid Air technology enables you to fry the tastiest crispy fries that contain up to 80% less fat than a conventional fryer! Its unique combination of fast circulating hot air and a grill element allows you to fry a variety of delicious fried food, snacks, chicken, meat and more in a fast and easy way.

The concept of using the Air to fry is just great for my family simply because we get to eat our favorite fried food without the need to worry about the high cholesterol content in cooking oil which is nasty is our health. We have been using it on Chicken – It was Juicy and Delicious, Fish – Taste good but a bit dry, Fries – Crispy and taste a whole lot healthier of course. Well, personally fries have been something I’ve like to munch on but is hesitant to simply because of the large amount of “cooking oil” that is locked into the fries itself. Try using your napkin on the conventional fried fries and you’ll know what I mean!

It just been days since this fryer step into our house, and it has been our meal companion everyday! I’ll share with you some recipe and the outcome from cooking with this little kitchen gadget soon… stay tuned.
